Sunny Surprises. Most of North America starts to get frosty and cold this time of year. If you had an unusually warm (tank tops and flip flops warm!) day unexpectedly and didn’t have to work, what would you do?
I would get on a boat.
I’d get on a smallish, motorized boat, tool around, and probably drink an adult beverage. I would not be driving, of course. That’s what I would do on “tank tops and flip flops” December day.
In September 2015, I visited a friend at Lake Anna, VA and we went out on her boat. I was so at peace. I was so happy. I had a smile on my face the entire time. In fact, one of my #reverb15 posts was about that very day!

At the time, I wasn’t aware of how attached to the boat ride that smile was, but fast forward almost a year to this past August and it became clear. I visited my parents on Cape Cod, and while visiting, we went out on my aunt and uncle’s boat which was very similar to the Lake Anna boat.
Again, I had a smile PLASTERED on my face. It was so beautiful and exhilarating and I realized as we slowed down and just floated along for a while that THIS was my happy place: in a boat, on the water.
It’s absolutely where I’d want to be if it were 80 degrees and sunny right now.
Now to figure out how I can afford my own boat… 🙂
