Friend and fellow blogger, KayShay, has for a few years now, participated in a writing exercise where she writes a post everyday in December reflecting on the current year. I’ve enjoyed her posts (and you should too, check her out: Authentistic) and this year decided to join her.
So here we are, #reverb15.
I’m clearly a little late to the party, but better late than never. I have been feeling very stuck with my writing lately and being given a daily writing prompt is the perfect way to get unstuck. Here goes. I’m sure some will be short, some will be sweet and some will be more like my usual novel-esque posts.
The day 1 prompt: Where did you start the year?
2015 was supposed to be “The Year of the Venturas!” My husband, Mark, and I were sure THIS was our year. Our year to make career moves and our year to get back on our feet, right the ship, <insert another way to say “Make things better” here>. We were PUMPED. A lot of “Team Ventura!” high fives around our house.
Mark had been working toward becoming a firefighter since the previous summer and was waiting to hear back about that. I was toying with starting my online training business and trying to make something of my blog. We had a cruise and a trip with friends planned. We were extremely hopeful.
Spoiler Alert: 2015 Kicked us in the nuts. Hard.
But the beginning of January was really exciting and we were full of motivation and promise. Regardless the outcome of next year, I hope it starts the same way. Hope has been my lifeline all year and refuse to give up on it now 🙂
